Northern Italy - Festival Castello di Udine
This was a very good weekend of music-making. The Festival produced by Luisa Sello and the Amici Della Musica Udine concluded with the coming-together of a wonderful ensemble of players from the region - from Venice to Trieste, Udine and surrounds. The program featured Luisa, herself, supported by the Russian violinist, Mara Sarafiants, and the Croatian flautist, Lucija Kovacevic.
The program included Vivaldi's flute concerto in D (Il Gardalino), the concerto for two flutes in C, Sivilotti's L'incantesimo della luna nuova for solo flute, Tomasi's Chaconne for violin, Grainger's Irish Tune, two pieces for two flutes from Mozart's Magic Flute and encores by JS Bach and Gluck.
The concert was repeated in Chiasa di San Carlo Borromeo in Mestre and Teoto Miela in Trieste.
The playing in all concerts was wonderful and spirited. The audiences very much appreciated that they were hearing really fine musicians. I understand that the whole month of the festival was very successful. Congratulations - especially to Luisa for making it all happen.
